Links

Just a few links to friends and other wildlife observers and photographers that contribute in different ways to our environment. The list here is diverse and the photography they show covers many different species, mainly in the UK. Some may not seem to qualify but they may be included for their other contributions or helpfulness or maybe just damn good at what they do. While Peter Bebb for instance may be an artist rather than a photographer, Peters wildlife pictures are stunning and if just one inspired people to look into the subject further then his work is invaluable. I hope these links are usefull to you.

Phocus-on is a web forum probably best described as a bunch of friends primarily interested (or obsessed :) ) about wildlife and wildlife photography in the UK. It’s a small group although new members are always welcome. Don’t expect a full critique of your photographs here though unless specifically requested. The object is to show and talk about British wildlife, not to criticize it or the members observations. A great friendly group of folks.

If wildlife haunts around Blackpool area is what you are looking for and where to go, what to see, try Fylde coast wildlife.

The web site and gallery of John Bridges, better known to many locals and wildlife organizations as “Jaybee” . John has an extensive and stunning collection of general wildlife photographs from the Northeast of England and elsewhere. His comprehensive site can almost be used for ID purposes and is extremely diverse.

Having lost his job due to ill health, Dave Marshall took up photography and has never regretted it. It keeps him on the go while many others would give up. To quote Dave “photographing and watching the wildlife is the biggest aid to the pain killers I have found.” Others please note, there is more to photography than taking pictures. Dave is currently, whenever possible, an active member of the Red Squirrel protection organization in the Lake District area.

This is the link to the gallery of Philip Tomkinson and where you will find some of the most stunning wildlife photographs around.

I have visited a few but Silverband is a dream for photographing raptors. Appointments or bookings needed.

Ann and Steve are first class professionals and offer a great day working hand in hand with Silverband Falconry.

Ponds are a unique resource for wildlife, an important part of our history and culture and provide an amenity for many communities. Ponds also play an important role in water management and carbon capture. Ponds are as important for biodiversity as rivers and lakes and have many rare species. But ponds are a threatened habitat - the number in the UK is estimated to have declined by over a third from the 1940s to the 1980s. Please visit and support the Pond Conservation Organisation.

Everyone should have a pond in their garden, large or tiny they all help.

Suppliers of my current computer system, it has been considerably more reliable than anything previous. Order placement for my design-it-yourself” system was very easy, friendly and quick. A recent request for a copy back-up disk was the same. Highly recommended.

Born in Bradford, Yorkshire, the second of five children, Peter’s passion for art was acquired from many hours as a small boy watching his father sketching. It was not until the age of twelve that he began drawing in earnest. From then on he sketched constantly from life. His main subjects at that time were portraits and figures. Later he started painting in oils and his interest was in wildlife and landscape. In 2003 Peter was introduced to soft pastels and loved them. Now he work almost exclusively in pastels working from photographs, observation and sketches. Peter has solo exhibitions in the Merrion Hotel, Leeds for a week commencing 22nd March 2009 and at Armley Mills during the Easter bank holiday. Visit Peter’s web site HERE
